Champ Interpreters, LLC’s goal is to provide equal access to concerts, performances, and every day life tasks to the Deaf/HOH community of West Virginia while also providing opportunities to provide mentorship and networking opportunities for the interpreters of WV. Who are we?

Jasmin grew up in New York, with most of her father’s family being deaf, where she was introduced to ASL and Deaf culture.
Jasmin attended Fairmont State University, where she graduated in 2008 with an Associate of Applied Science from the Interpreter Training Program, also earning a certificate in American Signed Language.
She joined Sorenson Communication’s VIP program upon graduation, becoming a VRS interpreter three months later. In 2010 she obtained her RID NIC Advanced certification. She continued her education at the University of Cincinnati, where she graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in the Interpreting Training Program.
In May 2022, she graduated with a Master of Science in ASL/English Interpreting with a concentration in Interpreting Pedagogy at the University of North Florida.
Jasmin has 4+ years of experience in academia and is an adjunct professor at Pierpont Community and Technical College. In addition, she has 15+ years of community, post-secondary, and VRS interpreting experience.

Ashley Turley started learning sign language in high school which sparked a passion for the language and working with the Deaf community. She earned her Associate of Arts degree in General Education from West Virginia Community and Technical College and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a minor in English Literature from West Virginia State University. She decided to pursue a career in sign language interpreting through mentorships and community connections. In 2021, she obtained National Interpreter Certification (NIC). Ashley is currently employed by Sorenson Communications as a Video Relay Interpreter.
Why us?
The agency was created because we believe WV’s Deaf/HOH community deserves equal visual access to public events and performances large and small. We believe in providing full access to performances. We do our best to show the music visually in our interpretation of sound and lyrics.
